None of the NetPlay TV assets that were bought in 2017 proves to be profitable for Betsson. Instead, they end up dragging down the Stockholm betting operator’s performance and leading the company to reconsider continuing with them. At this point in time, Vernons is rebranded as BetVernon. However, it struggles to impress players – especially the younger generation – and bring profit to the table. It is seen as a fading brand with an old school site full of slow-loading, overcrowded pages that pushes players away. Its operational costs exceed the revenue generated. Therefore, after being on a rollercoaster ride ever since the inauguration of the National Lottery and eventually failing to boost Betsson’s presence in the UK market, Vernons is finally put to rest. The brand’s closure would soon mark the beginning of the end for most other Betsson brands.
